Research

My research is at the intersection of electric machine design, power electronics and control, from milliwatt scale to the megawatt scale. I have a particular soft spot for multi-harmonic, topology optimized, and additively manufactured electric machines that unlock additional degrees of freedom.

For a current list of my publications, please check out my Google Scholar profile

Note 1: My name appears as FNU Nishanth in most publications, as I only have one name. FNU (or its variants F.N.U. / Fnu) is short for (First Name Unknown). You can read more about it here. Some of my publications may have my name as Nishanth or . Nishanth.

Note 2: The machines I work on (atleast for now) have nothing much to do with the Machine Learning that people go crazy over. I don’t do intense Machine Learning but I am “learning” Machines. That said, I am exploring the use of Machine Learning techniques to improve the design / performance of electric machines.
