About me

Hi there 👋, I am Nishanth, a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I work with the world renowned Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC)- one of the largest industry-academia consortium in the world. I am advised by Prof. Eric Severson and fortunate to be part of a young and dynamic research group that works on cool, niche (and weird) electric machines. Prior to starting as a post-doc, I obtained my Ph.D. also from WEMPEC in 2023.

My work at WEMPEC focusses on design and optimization of electric machines, power electronics, and control. Since joining WEMPEC in the Fall of 2018, I have been working on design and optimization of power dense axial flux machines to electrify off-highway vehicles (excavators, tractors etc).

You can get to know more about me by checking out the following sections of my website:

Apart from adding an occassional update, I typically do not find much time to keep all sections of this website updated. Unless there is something significant that I am bursting to share, I will be updating this website on the following US federal holidays: Labor day, Thanksgiving, New year’s day, and Memorial day. Please do not think that I am lazy :-)
